Some Nice Bass hit the scale. 10/18
Tuesday, October, 17, 2017 at 8:52PM
Alex Aravanis came in with a FAT 34″ 15.65lb Bass he caught in the evening on a SP Minnow. He also reported good action with schoolie Bass and even some weakfish. Right after Alex left we had Charlie Catton come in with a nice 9.40lb Bass. He also got his fish on a SP Minnow and also reported good fishing! Schoolies and weakfish. I also heard of some other nicer fish caught.. Even a few on Bunker. Drop in water temps has definitely turned these fish on. There was also some Albies chasing small bait up and down the coast Tuesday. They were hard to catch and you had to be at the right spot at the right time. Blackfish bite is good on the Jetty. Frank weighed in a nice 4.5 lber caught on a green crab. Adult Bunker are back in the area as well. I think it′s time to fish! Todays weather looks great..Sunny. High 71F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Plenty of Fresh Bunker, Salted Clams, Fresh Mullet, and Green Crabs in stock..........Ray

Small Bass at night. 10/17
Heard some positive things from the night time crew especially the guys walking the beach throwing plugs. All smaller Bass. One customer told me he was getting them during the daytime hours too. SP′s remain the lure of choice! Water temps have dropped again. Latest reading had it at 66.0 degrees. Was 68 Saturday. Beautiful stretch of weather ahead. These cooler nights are definitely going to help. Tuesdays weather... Sunny. High near 60F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

More stuff arrived! StormR surf tops and jackets, Gibbs Lures and Rosco Terminal tackle. More stuff expected this week.

Bob and Grump are off to Trinidad again for their 2nd vacation in 3 weeks. Some life!..........Ray

Monday 10/16
Decent amount of anglers headed out Sunday. We heard of some Small Blues on Mullet and Bunker. The Mullet run is still going.. We got some Fresh Mullet in before closing. Heard of a decent Bass taken on Bunker that was released. The night time crew are picking some Bass at night on plugs but nothing crazy yet. Looks like a good stretch of weather is ahead with Westerly winds. Todays weather...Partly Cloudy. High 62F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph..............Ray

Sunday 10/15
Conditions are improving. Talked to a few anglers Saturday evening that told me the ocean in laying down and the water is cleaning up nicely. They were holding with 6oz right before dark. Should see much improved conditions Sunday. We did hear of a few big blues off the beach on Bunker and more Big Bluefish showed on the docks. Albies have been popping up in the inlet but you have to be quick! Blackfish bite on the Jetty was pretty good. We have plenty of Green Crabs. Westerly winds are expected starting Sunday and it looks to continue all of next week! That could be exactly what we need to get this thing kicked off. Water temps are still hovering in the mid to high 60′s. Todays weather...Partly Cloudy. High 79F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Plenty of Fresh Bunker in stock!!

We were able to unpack more orders Saturday. All the $10 wooden plugs are on the rack! We also got the NEW S&S Tog Jigs with the crab skirt. They come in sizes 3/4oz to 3oz. Guys have had very good success with them especially on the boat. I′m expecting more stuff next week! Grumpy is just loving this!........Ray

Saturday 10/14
Conditions were tough again on Friday but are expected to improve as we move into Saturday. We had a few guys hit the docks and I heard of a couple Blues. One customer reported seeing Albies in the inlet. Hopefully we see more guys trying Saturday. The orders keep piling into the shop. Our St. Croix order came in Friday. In the order were Legends, Mojo′s, Avid Surf, Avid inshore, Mojo Inshore, Premiers and Tide Masters. Tons of Boat and Surf Rods! We also got orders from Backlash custom rigs by Bob Bott, S&S Bucktails, and we got BOXES of the $10 Wooden swimmers and poppers! Christie will get these plugs on the rack Saturday. They have been a hit the past couple years and they′re only $10!

We got a big delivery of Fresh Bunker Friday. Todays weather looks better especially the wind. Showers in the morning, then clearly in the afternoon. High 73F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph.............Ray

As expected no one fished with the bad weather we had Thursday but the shop was busy with guys getting ready. More orders came Thursday! Tsunami came by and dropped off a monster delivery. Also received a St. Croix order that I′ll open up Friday. More Proline waders came in too. I′m keeping grumpy busy in the back writing checks! Todays weather will continue with the cooler trend...Cloudy. High 67F. Winds E at 10 to 20 mph. Weather looking good for the weekend.........Ray
