RainGear!
Friday, May, 6, 2016 at 3:22AM
Yup, rain in the forecast! Nope, the fish could care less! With the big surf yesterday, most fishermen opted to the inlets and the bay and it was a good option! The Seaside Park Docks produced big Blues, mostly on Bunker Chunks while Metals and Bucktails seemed to be the favorite in both Inlets.
Lots of deliveries again yesterday! More of the Tsunami 11 foot bait rods at only $120, Another load of those sweet Tsunami wooden plugs at only $10 (perfect for the Blues), more of the popular Northbar Darters, Tons of Gibbs wood, Tica Rods, and the highly rated Shimano Saragosa Spinning Reels! We enjoy watching Ray play Grumpy Tetris while he tries to fit all the stuff he orders onto the racks!
The weather idiots have this - Windy. A steady rain in the morning, with showers continuing in the afternoon. Thunder possible. High 52F. Winds NE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 90%.

***Please Help*** Ponytail Mike has experienced a spike in expenses while he has been battling Liver Cancer. If you can help him get his bills paid, we are accepting donations in the store or, if you prefer, mail a check, payable to Mike Malek, to Grumpys, 906 NE Central Ave, Seaside Park, NJ 08752. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Better!
Bring your raingear so you wont need it kind of day! The Blues were very active in the rain yesterday with a lot of 10lbers being caught on Mullet, Bunker and assorted artificials. Not a lot of fishermen out because of the forecast but it seems that that all the ones I talked to had a ton of fun with the yellow eyed devils!
A large box of Northbar lures came in yesterday. The UPS guy said with only one box for us, it was almost like having a day off!
The weather idiots have this - Cloudy skies. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 52F. Winds NNE at 15 to 25 mph.

Oh Well!
If you are waiting for sunny skies and balmy breezes before you will go fishing, you are really missing out! Rainy days are some of the best fishing days and yesterday was a prime example! Big Blues are not worried about getting wet and visited the local beaches and Bay more so than the fishermen! Manasquan Inlet was real good before dark. The Bass are here if you can get past the Blues. We had a customer release a 37 incher caught on a Bunker chunk near the 37 bridge.
Fluke season starts in a couple of weeks! We have mail-in rebate coupons for GULP and GULP ALIVE that pretty much cut the price in half!
The weather idiots have this - Rain showers in the morning will evolve into a more steady rain in the afternoon. High 52F. Winds NE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.

A Blue Streak!
We have had at least one Bluefish on the scale for 11 days in a row now, and some days lots of them! Considering that many fishermen release Blues, there have been a ton or two of them this spring! There are Bass around too but getting past the Blues has been a challenge. Any of the local beaches are a good bet and the Bay from Seaside Park to the sedges behing IBSP is hot again! Bait was best for the surf, artificials in the Bay.
Ray needed to get another rod rack from St Croix because he ran out of room, however, he now needs to find room for the new rack (silly boy). More StormR jackets arrived including the NEW NANO JACKETS (super lightweight for spring)! We had to promote (???) poor Miss Christie to Rays full time assistant just to put away the stuff Ray orders.
The weather idiots have this - Occasional rain. High around 55F. Winds NE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

Oh, The Bluefish!
Madeline Meade hung a couple of Blues on the scale yesterday that took AVAs in the surf! The dramatic reduction in the length of the weigh-in list is a direct result of the dramatic reducuction in the number of fishermen out on a rainy day! Those that went out had some good times with Blues on artificials as well as bait. No word on Bass but they have to be out there! Yes, we have plenty of Fresh Bunker!
The weather idiots have this - Showers early, then cloudy in the afternoon. High around 60F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Just gets Better!
A couple of Bass in the mid teens hit the scales yesterday! Both caught in the surf on Bunker. Still plenty of Blues around with 5-15 lbs the range of the ones weighed in and reports of lots more released! Bunker was the favorite again yesterday but they did take an assortment of artificials too! Yes, we have plenty of Bunker!
The weather idiots have this - Cloudy with periods of rain. High 53F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
