A Great Weekend

Thank you everyone who came out to the shop for our event with the Berkeley Striper Club’s Flea Market.  It was a heck of a day.  It’s currently Monday and Raymond is still recovering.  Cover photo courtesy of Big Rock hisself.

The shop was so busy we don’t have much for you in terms of shop news (and there was much rejoicing).  We did, however, get a restock of Lil Docs, so if you were waiting for them, come on down.  With the big bass around, it’s Doc Season.

The fishing remains good throughout the area.  The surf is producing striped bass during the day on clams, and at night on swimming plugs like Hydro Minnows and SP Minnows.  Bluefish are also in the surf.  They are hitting the same plugs in the day, plus pencil poppers.  Anglers fishing mullet or bunker chunks are also taking bluefish.

The big blues are also all over the bay.  Bunker chunks or mullet are working for them.  For those who prefer lures, poppers are taking them too.

The fluke fishing in the back bay is picking up, with some nice keepers coming into boats drifting the back bay channels with jigs and Gulp!.  There have also been a few keepers taken from the surf at Island Beach State Park.

Some notable catches

Steve Saniewski with a 3.55 lb 22” fish caught on an S&S Bucktails fluke nukem jig with Berkley Gulp! Also his illegitimate child Connor Thompson with an OMG from @breakingbreadnj.

@rj1629! Reported a pair of 34” Bass from the surf.

Here’s Gary Cochran with a bass off the surf.

You know it has been a good weekend when Ray breaks out into a dance party…
