First, shop news.
The biggest news we currently have is that this is the weekend of the Berkely Striper Club’s annual Fisherman’s Flea Market it will take place on Saturday from 8:30 am until 2:00 pm. Don’t miss this yearly event.
While the flea market is going on, we will have Big Rock Lures in the shop again. In order to purchase a Big Rock, you will need to have a wrist band from the BSC Flea Market. The Big Rock sales will start at 10:00 am, so you will have time to walk the flea market before this sale starts.
We added some nice new plugs to the shop and online store. The Storm Arashi® Glide Baits. These plastic, jointed glide baits sink slowly and swim with an exaggerated S motion. Adding a few jerks of the rod tip can get the bait to do a 180 degree turn, which triggers strikes in hesitant fish. The trophy freshwater bass fisherman have known about and utilized lures like these for years. It is time for them to shine in the saltwater too.
How is the fishing? Well, the focus has moved from the bay to the surf. There have been bass and drum caught on clams in the surf, and even bluefish caught on lures in the surf. SP Minnows and poppers have taken those.
The bay is still giving up striped bass and the occasional drum, but the action really seems to have moved to the ocean.
Don’t forget, this Sunday is the opening day of fluke season here in NJ. Do you have your fluke jigs and Gulp!?

Our Cover Photo: The Bigger Bass Are In. Here’s Mr. Frick with a beautiful striped bass he landed and released on his first cast with a fresh clam. He reported steady action and plenty of bites.
The big Blues are in the Surf. Here’s Tom with a jumbo caught in the IBSP surf. All on SP Minnows. He also released a few bass on clams.
