Happy Easter and Glider Mayhem

First, shop news.

I would love to tell you we got in an order of Scabelly Gliders but they went on sale Wednesday at 5:00 PM and were sold out by Wednesday at 5:23 PM.  It felt like throwing 39 live peanut bunker into a school of one thousand hungry 15 pound bluefish.  Actually, the bluefish would have been a little less crazy…

They were not the only gliders we got in.  We received an order of Salty C’s gliders the very next day.  We now have three different sizes on the website, and added a couple of new colors.  While Salty C’s currently doesn’t bring out the feeding frenzy a Scabelly reload does, you may want to look below at the fishing reports to see why you should be buying one of these…

Have you been waiting for a Van Staal VR50 in black?  We just got a few into the shop, and have one up on the website.  These little powerhouse reels will not last long.

The fishing has been picking up when the weather cooperates.  Getting the weather to cooperate has been an issue.  The next few days look OK, if a little bit windy.  Barnegat Bay is still regularly producing striped bass, but the bigger news is we are getting more reports of striped bass on the ocean side beaches.  All the spring “striped bass arrival” indicators are in place:  bunker are here, Ospreys have arrived on their nests, daffodils are blooming, and you may notice a sheen of yellow on your windshield in the morning (or, for those less observant, you may wonder why you can’t stop sneezing).  It’s time…

Our hours for Easter are the same as always, so on Easter Sunday if you decide you want to get out for an afternoon shot at a fish, we’ll be here for you.  And we will have blood worms, fresh shucked clams, and fresh bunker for the weekend.

Here are some notable catches from the last day or so…

Kevin Malone sent us this picture of this little guy from IBSP surf this morning.

@surfcaster_Christian sent us this picture of his personal best plug caught fish to date.  He used an 10’6” ODM DNA paired with a Van Staal VSX200 to land the fish.  A Stormr jacket kept him warm, and a ZBelt held up his stuff and saved his back.  And the fish fell for a Salty C’s Glider.

What does our own ROCKSTAR do when she is not in the shop?  Jenni fishes, of course.  She sent in this picture from a secret spot.  Based on the background, I suspect it is somewhere in Sayerville.

Everyone here at Grumpys would like to wish a Happy Easter to those who celebrate.  A few of us here really get into the holiday and will be dressed up this weekend.  Here is a preview.

We also thought about doing something similar to the Grumpy Santa event, but with an Easter Bunny.  But then we remembered how well that worked out the last time…
