Still A Back Bay Bite
But first, shop news…
This weekend we are having a Spring Break sale in the shop on Saturday. 15% off select items in the store (as seen above). This sale will be for Saturday only and will only be in-store.
We are getting a limited drop of Big Rock Lures on Saturday, which we will release to the public at noon. This will also only be an in-store event. One lure per customer, and no reserves or orders over the phone.
With all of these in-store only events, do we have anything for our online shoppers? Sure. We have a sale on Ben Parker Flutter Spoons running now for online only. They are 20%, with the discount taken automatically at checkout. With the large bass just starting to show up, now is time to take advantage of this big fish lure.
Do you like fishing live bait? Do you find it hard to find, and when you do find I, expensive to purchase? Well, here is a solution. Collect your own. Sabiki rigs allow you to collect multiple small live baits at a time so you can get to your fishing spot sooner. Maitai is now distributing UkiUki Sabiki rigs in 5 sizes with or without tinsel.
Striped bass fishing is still primarily a bay thing right now. Blood worms and small soft plastic lures are still responsible for most of the fish coming ot of the bay. We have heard of some bigger fish coming out of the bigger bays both north and south of us, so we expect the ocean to turn on soon too. We have fresh clams in the shell available for those who want to give it a shot now.
We are also expecting the big black drum to show up any day now. And they love clams...
Blackfish season is now open and they have been getting some nice tog on the inshore wrecks. We have green crabs for those who want to try.
Some notable recent catches:
Tog bite was good for Mister D sportfishing
Not exactly a catch, but Vasilios was out recently with some salted clams to see what’s stirring and he sent us this photo. He bait was slammed so hard it snapped his sand spike. He managed to recover the rod, but the fish got away. Drum? Bass?
And, an animated gif of Ray, just for fun…
