The Gibbs Darter is a "classic" in the saltwater plug offerings. The darter excels in areas where a current helps work the plug, but they will work in calm water too.
Don't go to Montauk without one.
FISHERMAN TIP: This plug is more effective when cast in the current and immediately jump start with a moderate jerk of the rodtip to get the plug to bite and start its decent. Follow with a slow steady retrieve as the plug works from side to side for about ten to fifteen feet; then return your rod to a forward position pointed at the plug and allow the Darter to float back to the surface. Your line will need to be slacked to allow this but be ready as strikes often occur with an erratic left-to-right motion as it is retrieved. This is Stan Gibbs' most effective retrieve but you can experiment with different speeds and rod motions, finding another that is better suited in other circumstances.

Oversize Items (such as fishing rods) or multiple package shipments may require additional charges. In-Stock items are usually shipped within 3 to 5 business days. Customized items (such as reels pre-spooled with line) may take up to an extra two business days to ship to allow for the customizations to be made.

Free Economy Shipping is offered on orders over $100.00. If this option is chosen at checkout, the carrier and service used to ship the order is determined by Grumpys Tackle at the time of order fulfillment. Some items, such as fishing rods and other odd/over sized items, are excluded from the free shipping offer.
Store pick up is available as an option, and is free. Store pickup orders will be available in 2 to 4 business days. Customized items, such as reels pre-spooled with line, may take up to an extra two days. Customers will be notified by e-mail or text, per the customers preference, when the order is ready. Orders will not be ready for pickup prior to the e-mail or text indicating so. When picking up an order, a customer will be required to provide the order number and a valid form of ID. Orders will not be released to anyone other that the customer who's name is on the invoice unless prior arrangements are made. Orders are to be picked up at 906 NE Central Ave, Seaside Park, NJ and will be available from Sunday to Thursday, Noon to 7:00 PM.
Shipping Fishing Rods: We have customized our shipping of fishing rods to fall into 7 tiers. All but the last tier (Tier MP - Market Price) are a flat rate to ship the rods. Multiple factors went into determining which tier a rod will fall into, including but not limited to cost of the rod, size of the box needed to ship the rod, etc. Rods may switch tiers due to the factors calculating their tier having changed. To determine a shipping cost on a specific rod, add it to you cart and go through the checkout process to the shipping section.
