It's time for a change. As more young anglers take an interest in both appearance and utility, Dark Matter made a choice to combine form and function in fishing rods. Welcome to the Dark Matter Psychedelic series. For the first time, you may pick rods that come in various hues to match almost any standard reel on the market. A long time was spent developing this collection, with over two years invested in thorough study and testing. The end result is an absolutely stunning product.
Designed to target species not just in the Northeast, the Dark Matter Psychedelic series is exquisitely tuned to dominate in all marine environments on earth. The rod is made with a Dark Matter high-modulus M3 Carbon Nano blank, providing an optimal balance of power and sensitivity. The Dark Matter Psychedelic Casting Rod is a versatile fishing tool that may be utilized in the Northeast for a variety of species, including fluke, striped bass, bluefish, blackfish, and more. Combine it with a 300 or 400-size baitcaster and cast plugs at Stripers, Bluefish, redfish, and snook down south.
The X model is equipped with Fuji Alconite guides and a Fuji graphite reel seat with trigger and locking capabilities. The heavier-duty Z model sports an Alconite Guide set and a matching colored Aluminum Heavy Duty Reel Seat and Gimbal Butt.
The Dark Matter Psychedelic Casting Rod is a versatile medium-action casting rod that works well for both live bait and trolling. Both versions of the rods include our unique, super-tacky grips with the Dark Matter logo etched in a spiral design. They have excellent grip, even when wet or coated with bait. Dark Matter went as far as to match the etched DM logo's hue with the rest of the rod to provide a beautiful presentation.
Dark Matter Psychedelic Casting Rods come in two different models – X and Z. They are available in eight vibrant colorways - Pink, Purple, Red, Silver, Black, Blue, Green, and Gunmetal.

Shipping costs are calculated during the checkout process. Depending on the item(s) ordered, customers are presented with a choice of shipping options. Oversize Items (such as fishing rods) or multiple package shipments may require additional charges. In-Stock items are usually shipped within 3 to 5 business days. Customized items (such as reels pre-spooled with line) may take up to an extra two business days to ship to allow for the customizations to be made.
Shipping costs are calculated based on the carrier/options chosen at checkout. Shipping costs include the cost of the packaging.
Free Economy Shipping is offered on orders over $100.00. If this option is chosen at checkout, the carrier and service used to ship the order is determined by Grumpys Tackle at the time of order fulfillment. Some items, such as fishing rods and other odd/over sized items, are excluded from the free shipping offer.
Store pick up is available as an option, and is free. Store pickup orders will be available in 2 to 4 business days. Customized items, such as reels pre-spooled with line, may take up to an extra two days. Customers will be notified by e-mail or text, per the customers preference, when the order is ready. Orders will not be ready for pickup prior to the e-mail or text indicating so. When picking up an order, a customer will be required to provide the order number and a valid form of ID. Orders will not be released to anyone other that the customer who's name is on the invoice unless prior arrangements are made. Orders are to be picked up at 906 NE Central Ave, Seaside Park, NJ and will be available from Sunday to Thursday, Noon to 7:00 PM.
Shipping Fishing Rods: We have customized our shipping of fishing rods to fall into 7 tiers. All but the last tier (Tier MP - Market Price) are a flat rate to ship the rods. Multiple factors went into determining which tier a rod will fall into, including but not limited to cost of the rod, size of the box needed to ship the rod, etc. Rods may switch tiers due to the factors calculating their tier having changed. To determine a shipping cost on a specific rod, add it to you cart and go through the checkout process to the shipping section.
Returns & Exchanges
So you ordered the wrong size, wrong color, or the wrong style? What do you do now? At Grumpys we aim to please. If an item was ordered in error, we can help make it right. We will accept a return or exchange if the item or items are in new condition in the original, unopened package. Simply send the package back to us with a copy of your invoice and a note explaining what you are sending back and why. You are responsible for return shipping. Please ship with tracking and insurance for your protection. The package is solely your responsibility until it arrives back at our shop. Please allow 5-10 business days after delivery for a return/exchange to be received, inspected, and processed. Exchange or refund amount excludes shipping charge. The customer is responsible for any additional shipping costs for exchanged items. Please do not return any merchandise purchased online at the brick & mortar store. All online purchases must be returned via the process above.
Within a 15-day period of time (from delivery date), Grumpys offers a no questions asked returns of new merchandise (must be unused). To qualify the item must be in brand new condition, not used, in their original box, including packaging materials, manuals, tags and accessories. After 15 days all returns must have our authorization (contact us here).)
Returns and Order Cancellations will be subject to a 5% processing/restocking fee unless issued online store credit for a future purchase. This credit will come in the form of a gift card that will be good for the online store only.
We reserve the right to refuse any return at any time. No returns or exchanges on custom or special ordered merchandise, or merchandise specified to be exempt from our return policy in the product description.
Defective, Damaged, Mis-shipped Merchandise
Please inspect your package carefully upon delivery. If you receive defective, damaged, or items that you did not order, contact us immediately here). This claim must be brought to our attention within two business days of delivery receipt. At no cost to you, we will correct the issue as soon as possible and provide instructions on the return of merchandise in question.
