And Even More Striped Bass Being Reported

VETERANS DAY is observed Friday 11/10/22 and we want to thank you for your service. Just tell us that you are a vet (or active duty military) on Friday and take 10 percent off your bill. In-Store Only.  Our little way of saying Thank You!!!

Now, shop news.

We added two new products from MagicTail Outfitters.  Magictail is another local vendor who makes excellent products designed for East Coast fishing.  Here is what we added.

MagicTail KillShot jigs are a modified bullet head jig perfect for all sorts of soft plastics.  Available in Sizes from ½ oz to 3 oz with multiple quality hook options for some of the sizes, there is a Kill Shot for your fishing application.

We also have MagicTail Tog jigs.  With Blackfish season about to open up to 5 fish, you are going to want to check these out.  They have a quality hook and no collar on the jig head to help get the crab onto the hook further and keep it there.  They are also designed to land with the hook pointing up, presenting the bait in a way where the tog will more likely get the hook.

We have had MaiTai teaser rigs for a while, but for those who want to add their own teaser, we now have the MaiTai Naked Teaser Rig.  Basically, the teaser rig without the teaser, so you can use your favorite.  Available in monofilament of fluorocarbon.

We now have most size Van Staal VRs and VSX2 Bail less in stock.

We received most of the backstock on our Daiwa Fuego reel order, so almost all sizes are now in stock.

How is the fishing?   We are hearing reports of good striped bass fishing closer to the shop.  The fish are still a bit north of the shop, but that body of fish is getting closer every day.  We also had a number of good reports from Island Beach State Park.  Bunker chunks are working for those who are fishing bait, while those throwing lures are doing best on metal lipped swimmersswim shadsplastic swimmers and bucktails

Some notable recent catches:

At this point it’s more uncommon for Dominick not to catch big bass….

Here’s our very own Scott with a nice bass caught on his favorite lure, a Yo-Zuri Mag Darter in bone.

13 year old Cole found some bass Wednesday on a white Tsunami Tackle swim shad.

RJ Reed with his first bass off the surf on a Striper Bites metal lip.

Shane Playford with a nice bass on a blurple Sp Minnow

@itschnitz said the cows came out to play Tuesday. It was on fire.

@jakemann3 was able to get on some fish.

Even though the wind was tough, Anthony David was able to find fish Wednesday night.

Dominick with yet another one!  We are beginning to think all of these pictures are of his trained pet fish.  He just walks down to the water, calls it to him, picks it up when it swims up to him, takes a picture, gives it a treat, and then puts it back in the water.

@eazycash found some fish on bunker chunks!

@mikey.vaccarino said there’s lots of birds (and apparently some bass) in IBSP

Local Plugger with a Berkeley Striper Club tagged 48” Bass caught Thursday evening  in IBSP. Heck of a fish! Caught on a 7” Redfin.

For those who know Ray, you know he doesn’t work on Sundays.  Well, we would like to think you all know he doesn’t work Sundays, but with he amount of calls we get for Ray on Sunday, we kinda wonder how well some of our customers retain information.  Anyway, Ray is off on Sundays so he can watch football.  Specifically, his favorite team, the Washington Commanders.  In a discussion today, we discussed this fact, and the theory that the fish feed for two days and take a break.  Scott doesn’t want them to take a break for Sunday, and John says, “Are you kidding, they are going to be sitting on the couch next to Ray being disappointed by the Washington Commanders”.  Like this…
