Bass Fishing Still Good, But....

...we have some weather coming in.  First, shop news…

We got a brand new product from Tsunami today.  Not a rod, not a reel, not even a lure.  They now have the SaltX Seahook Splash Top.  This is a nice, feature rich light three season breathable splash top.  Pair it with waders and wear it in the surf.  Put in over bibs and wear it out on a boat.  Or keep it in the car or boat for those inconvenient summer showers.  It has neoprene cuffs and a neck seal, so you will stay dry if you take a wave over the head.  And the front pouch has a waterproof zipper to keep your stuff dry.

Fresh shucked clams are in stock, and we will have plenty for the weekend.

It’s almost fluke season.  Now is the time to stock up on the stuff you need.  We have all kinds of Gulp! for you.  And you may want to get a BaitMule to carry that Gulp! so there are no leaks in your boat, or worse yet, in your car.  And now I the time to stock up on S&S Bucktails Fluke Nukem jigs, John Skinner Fluke Jigs, or Raging Rattlers

Speaking of fluke, KEPTI Fishing was at our last event and took some video of Jenni doing her thing during her seminar.  KEPTI then interviewed her for their v-log.  Check it out here: https://youtu.be/2e_KR2dC_Sw.  KEPTI Fishing is a fishing family that loves fishing and spending time with each other. The fishing in the surf for striped bass took a small dip mid-week, but it came roaring back Thursday.  As it has been most of the spring, clams are responsible for almost all of the surf caught striped bass.

There are also some bluefish around.  We had reports of some caught in the surf and some caught inside the inlets.  All of them were smaller fish, just a couple of pounds, but hopefully this is the start of a run of nicer fish.  We can hope…

We have predictions of some terrible weather coming through this weekend.  What should you do?  Go fishing.  The fish don’t care if you are wet.  Or come in and get one of those new SaltX Seahook Splash Tops and stay dry.  With the winds they are predicting, the ocean will likely only be fishable at the beginning of this weather event, and when it starts to clear up.  But the back bay is still producing some striped bass.  Mostly smaller fish with the occasional larger fish.  All the usual spring lures for those.

Some catches of note:

Matt Hage sent us a report. “Dads 1st Striper from the surf!”

Fresh clams = fresh fish. The @heavyreelbrewingco boys are on them again (including our cover picture)! Paul brought a 35 inch 15.05 pound bass back for dinner.  Stop in, get some clams, get some fish, then go for a beer at Heavy reel.

@principessa110 and crew with a nice 31” 10.50LB Bass on Fresh Clams.

George Horvath caught and released a pre-season summer flounder.  Here is his report:  “Caught, tagged and released a fluke with a Grumpy’s Ava A-17 this evening. Caught fish 🐟 every time that I used that lure.”

Our own mini-rodbuilder, Connor, got out this week and found some bluefish.  He claims he caught them on Cheez-Its but we really think he was using Doritos

We had some e-mail issues this past week that our service provider finally resolved.  Ray is now frantically catching up on his e-mails.  Look at him go….
