Free Seminars and Happy St Patricks Day
Exciting things happening the end of this month at Grumpys! As most know we’ll be having our annual “Spring Has Sprung” Sales Event March 26th and 27th. Scabelly will be in the house that Saturday with gliders. We will have more details next week on the sale but for now we wanted to announce a new thing we have going on for this event. We will be having seminars! They are FREE; just show up! See the flyer above for the subjects and schedule.
We have added the Shimano TranX reels to the website. These are the cream of the crop for fluke jigging reels, and also make fantastic reels for black sea bass and blackfish. But they are not just bottom fishing reels. These low profile reels cast great, so you can use them to toss jigs to striped bass, weakfish, bluefish, snook, redfish and sea trout.
We were also able to add products from Turtle Cove Tackle to the online store. We have the Boga Carrier and the 7” Universal Plier Carrier. They are selling fast in the store, and we expect them to not last online either, so don’t wait to order.
Also in shop news, we were able to restock on waders from Frogg Toggs. The model we got in is the Rana II, which is nice wader for the price. These are PVC, not breathable. We expect the breathable waders from Frogg Toggs to arrive in approximately a month.
Fishing for striped bass has remained good in the bay, even with the little cold snap we recently had (caused by Blackcloud Bob killing the harbinger of spring). Right now worms seem to be taking the majority of fish, but lures have been working too. Kettle Creek Shads, small Tsunami Holographic Shads, small Storm Wildeye Shads, Rapala X-Raps, small Mag Darters, and small Scabelly gliders have all been working.
Here are a few notable catches.
First up, again, is George Miller. George has been so successful lately he should probably check under his car for GPS trackers. He’s going to find a lot of them (Hopefully the one I put there is hidden well…)
Nick Honachefsky sent in a picture of a couple of his fans wearing his Saltwater Underground gear while getting into some nice schoolie sized bass.
The picture of this young angler with a nice schoolie bass was sent in through Instagram from @kevinshannon2020.
Happy St Patrick’s Day from Grumpys. Ray loves St Patty’s Day. Come on in today and see Ray dressed in his Leprechaun costume. We don’t think it is a costume, however. We think he normally dresses like this away from work. Be careful when you are here, as he might hit you in the knee with his Shillelagh.
