Saturday and Sunday we are holding our SPRING HAS SPRUNG sale.  We are having our sale along with Yakkity Yak Kayak rentals next door.  See the two fliers below for details on each sale.

Spring Has Sprung Sale - GrumpysSpring Has Sprung Sale - Yakkity Yaks

We will be having John Hudler from Scabelly plugs in the store with a new batch of Scabelly plugs.  He will have gliders and other special plugs with him for sale.  The store opens at 7:00, and we expect John to be sold out quickly, so get there early is you want a Scabelly plug.

We will also have Stan Gola from S&S Bucktails in the house.  He is going to be debuting his new fluke bucktail, the Fluke Nukem.  Exclusive to Grumpys Tackle, the Fluke Nukem has two tie offs for either jigging or casting, had a head designed to remain upright when on the bottom, and has a bait keeper to hold your Gulp, soft plastic, squid, shrimp, or other bait in place.

We had a few other exciting things happen in the shop since our last report.

We had a restock on Shimano Stradic reels, specifically the 4000 and 5000 sizes.  Shimano reels have been difficult to get during the pandemic.  Come get them while we have them

We had more Van Staal reels come in too.  Also difficult to get in during the pandemic, don’t wait if you want a Van Staal.  We also had the extended reel foot for the 100 series reels in too, but only in black.

Midway Lures dropped off a batch of Swizzle Sticks   …..  aaaaaaannnnnndddd they’re gone.  Well, not really, but they have been selling quickly.  As of this writing there are two left in the online store and about a dozen in the brick and mortar shop.  We have already requested more from Midway Lures.

So the fishing for striped bass has been pretty steady.  As usual, small lures have been working, stuff like , Rapala X-raps, small Yozuri Mag DartersKettle Creek Shads on light bullet jig heads, small Storm Wildeye Shads, small Tsunami Pro Holographis Swim ShadsVudu Shads, small Scabelly Gliders and Midway Lures Swizzle Sticks.  Bloodworms have been the ticker for soaking bait.  he west side of the bay and the rivers and creeks that feed it has still been the hot spot, but...

We have heard of a few fish starting to get picked up on the eastern side of the bay.  With a warming trend in the weather over the weekend and next week, we expect to start hearing more from these areas.

Ray has been spending his week since getting back from vacation getting ready for the Spring Has Sprung sale.  He is going to be in full character as a mythical springtime creature.

This time I think the hair is a wig…

Bob doesn’t know it yet but Ray has a costume for him too.
