The Big Bass Are Still Here

Quick report today, as we are very busy lately…

We received more Pro Rockhoppers from S&S Jigs, including the much sought after pearl.  They are not available on the website and in the store.

The fishing in the surf has reverted to a type of fishing the older generation of surf fishermen are going to recognize.  We would classify the fishing as good.  There are nice fish around, but you have to work to find them, as they are not everywhere, and there really have not been blitzes to indicate where they are.  So, if you want to know if there are fish at the spot you are looking at, you have to get out there and make some casts.  If they are not there, move on.

The other big news is the shore blackfish bite has been very good.  The local jetties and usual spots in the backwaters are giving up lots of blackfish, most small with some keepers mixed in.  In some spots you will need to struggle through the black sea bass to get the tog.

Here are some notable catches:

For our cover photo, @saammorelli2410 found bass on a shad Saturday.

@tunarol on them Friday morning with a beautiful 42” striped bass from the surf.

Nick Chiffo didn’t let the blues get him down Friday, there’s still some around.

@ajsimon22 with a 46” bass he landed Friday in the surf. Total of 6 bass landed by him.

@tommysclafani found bass Friday night.

Mike Vaccarino and John Busco with tog up to 2.5 lbs! We have been seeing a stellar shore-based tog fishery, so get out there.

Mickey with bass up to 43” LOCALLY! All caught on his 9’ Grumpys Sandstorm.

Since it is a quick report, we’ll just let Ray’s segment speak for itself…
