Ray Thawed Out
We received a big order today. Sixty five boxes. It warmed Ray so much he totally thawed out since the last fishing report. And even grew some hair (see the picture...). We will have a lot of restocking to do, but should have it all out well before the weekend. What did we get? Wait and see, we still have boxes to open... Oh yeah, right. Winter fishing and WINTER SALE!
There is not really much to report in terms of fishing. There still might be a micro-bass or two in the surf to be caught, but no one seems to be trying for them anymore. And if they are, they are not coming into the shop bragging about it (and we understand). Therefore, we are currently in a holding pattern waiting for the back bays to open for both striped bass and winter flounder on March 1st. Slower fishing, but still there.... And Scabellys!
The fishing has slowed down, but there are still small striped bass in the surf for those who are trying. Mornings seem better, but we have been hearing about evening fish too. And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, use stuff that imitates a sand eel... And now for something completely different (in other words, doesn't imitate a sand eel) Scabelly gliders are here. We have a batch for online sales only. Don't go to the store, they won't be there. Striped Bass are Still Here
We got some reports on Wednesday of fish being caught along the beach in Seaside Park and out on Island Beach State Park. It's not the action we had a month ago, but there are still stripers around. What hasn't changed is what they are getting them on, Avas, Hurleys, Tsunami Sand Eels, and teasers. We did have one angler report that the fish had peanut bunker pinned to the beach for short while, so it might not hurt to have Tsunami Shads or Storm shads with you too. Our hours for December 24th are shortened. We will be opening...
